Solo Travel Guide

Solo travel is fun and once in a lifetime atleast everyone should try this out.

I’ve told you the benefits of Solo travelling in my previous travel post which is here- All about Solo Travel.

“As you travel solo, being totally responsible for yourself, it’s inevitable that you discover just how capable you are”

Yes.

There are some things to keep in mind and some mistakes to avoid while you travel alone. Other things to keep in mind while travelling is here.

“GO SOLO, GO FAR”

Without any one, travelling alone can be risky sometimes, you know why. So, here are some things to keep in mind always:

1. Avoid walking alone at night.

This is very important and upmost step to prevent yourself from dangerous and uncomfortable situations. Your safety comes first specially when you are travelling alone.

2. If you feel uncomfortable get out of the situation.

Being in an uncomfortable situations is not what you want while you travel. Think about it. You planned your perfect trip and end up in a situation where you are uncomfortable and regret it after. So, safety first. If you feel even a little bit of inconvenience or you are uncomfortable, insecure, just get outta from there. That’s not a place that you cannot go out from there. Don’t think about it and get out.

3. Make sure someone knows where you are

Send your live location to someone who is close to you like your friends, family members. It’s very important for your safety. It will help them keep a track of you while you are in a dangerous situation. Live location is a feature in WhatsApp if you don’t know.

4. Keep your phone charged or have a battery pack at hand

Always. Always keep your phone charged and keep the battery pack/ power bank with you fully charged. If necessary keep two. Because having low battery in your phone can turn out to be a helplessness situation. If you’re in danger, how will you call 911 or 100 when in emergency of you have a low battery. So it’s better to keep your phone charged at all times.

5. Be aware of your surroundings.

That’s obvious. But some people don’t take care about that. Always be aware. First of all, never wear headphones/earphones and walk on roads specially. That’s a really stupid mistake most of the people do everytime. Just don’t. It is really harmful for your safety.

Always be aware what’s around you, who is around you. Because it’s always better to take the precaution. Never play with your safety.

6. Mindful of country’s cultural norms

This is important, many countries like India, have diverse cultures and of course, with cultures, comes norms with it. It is very important to follow them.

7.Security

Everyone agrees, safety and security are the upmost things we need to care about, not just in travelling but everytime, everywhere. Here are some tips:

Lock your bag so that no one is able pickpocket your essentials easily.

Carry shoulder bag to ensure grip so that your bag is not easily snatched, avoid carrying hand bags.

Don’t wear expensive jewellery while you travel, you may end up loosing them.

Some women wear fake wedding rings for their safety, that works sometimes. I don’t know, that’s crazy. (P.S. this point is not mine).

So, these were some important things to keep in mind while you travel solo ie. alone.

Now, pack your bags, and go, roam in this beautiful world, try out solo travel. Trust me it would be fun.

Mishappenings are part of life, that should not hold you back, from travelling alone, specially women.

You just have to take care of the prevention, be aware all the time and have fun. That’s it. It’s not too unsafe. Life is all about adventures, if you don’t go for it, how will you enjoy it?

“You can”

Tell me your thoughts and ideas, more preventives if you know any, I would love to know.

Have you planned your solo trip?

If not, what’s holding you back?

Go and explore..!!

Take care, and have fun!!
